Environmental, Health and Safety Manager

Job Summary:

This position will provide technical safety and health support to production and corporate personnel, develop corporate safety and health programs and objectives, coordinate safety training programs, monitor safety and health regulations and provide technical support to plant and corporate personnel to ensure compliance with Federal and State safety and health regulations.  This position will also be responsible for all workers compensation matters in a multi-site and multi-state company. 

Summary of Essential Functions:

  • Manage Worker’s Compensation Process (including logs, investigations and communications with 3rd party stakeholders)
  • Manage drug screening process (pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, etc.)
  • Manage OSHA logs and 300A postings
  • Provide technical safety and health support and information to production and corporate personnel
  • Ensure safety and health programs and policies are current and enforced
  • Identify company safety training needs and develop and coordinate safety training programs
  • Develop annual company safety and health goals
  • Participate in new product/process reviews including process hazard analyses, Operator Training, etc.
  • Support corporate/plant engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards
  • Support plant personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Maintain corporate safety library (e.g. videos, regulations, reference manuals)
  • Promote safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters, and specific training programs
  • Manage day-to-day responsibilities of the personnel in the safety department
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of Workers Compensation requirements/procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of OHSA (and other enforceable agencies) laws and guidelines
  • Must be able to coach, motivate and mentor safety team members
  • Must be able to work with a diverse background of people to get corporate goals accomplished
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Must be able to establish and follow through on projects (planning, budgeting, coordinating, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • B.S. in related field preferred
  • 10+ years EHS experience preferred
  • Work is conducted in both an office and plant setting
  • Must be able to lift (up to 50 lbs.), bend, stoop, crawl and work in indoor/outdoor environment
  • Travel to other states/facilities will be limited, but required
